Hazy Center
The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is a companion facility to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The collection of the Museum is far too big to display in entirety at the main building on the National Mall, so thanks to a $65 million gift from aviation businessman Steven F. Udvar-Hazy in 1999, the Center was opened at Dulles International Airport in 2003. 2 ˝ football fields long and 10 stories high, the huge hangar-like building has over 300 aircraft and spacecraft on display, including the space shuttle Enterprise, an SR-71 Blackbird, and supersonic airliner Concorde.- Learn about the history and relevance of aviation and spaceflight
