Quincy Market
Quincy Market is an 1826 expansion to the Faneuil Hall Marketplace. It is built in granite in the Greek Revival style, in contrast to the brickwork of Faneuil Hall directly in front of it and the North and South Blocks to its left and right. For many years, the shop stalls in Quincy Market served as Boston’s downtown grocery selling fresh produce and meat, but by the mid-1900s the market was largely vacant and ill-maintained. Fortunately, the Faneuil Hall Marketplace was revitalized in the 1970s, bringing new shops and entertainment to Boston’s urban core. Today, Quincy Market hosts a significant portion of the popular complex’s restaurants, representing a wide variety of cuisines and formal and casual dining experiences.
