Plimouth Plantation
Plimoth Plantation looks back in time to some of the earliest European settlement in New England. In the recreation of a 1627 English colonial village, historical interpreters dress and speak as did the Pilgrims who came in the Mayflower and originally founded Plymouth Colony in 1620. Offering a different perspective, the neighboring Wampanoag homesite hosts staff members of Native ancestry who do not speak in character, but do explain the history and outlook of the Wampanoag people who lived on this land for thousands of years before the first white settlers arrived. On the water, visit the Mayflower II, a careful reproduction of the damp, cramped ship that took the original settlers on their harrowing journey across the Atlantic.
